1. Amer Fort

Located in Amber, at a distance of just a few kilometers from Jaipur, this fort was built by Sawai Jai Singh. The architecture of this fort is one of the reasons why so many tourists visit this fort. This is one of the most popular forts in Rajasthan that you should visit at least once. When you enter the fort, you can witness Diwan-i-Aam and Diwan-i-Khaas, Sheesh Mahal, Jai Mandir and several other temples, Kesar Kyari garden, and many more.

2. City Palace

One of the top tourist attractions in Rajasthan that you should visit when you are in Jaipur is City Palace. The architecture of the palace is a mix of Rajasthani and Mughal styles. You can find a museum here where you can find out information about the history of Jaipur and the royal family.

3. Chittorgarh Fort

Chittorgarh Fort is one of the top historical places in Rajasthan’s city Udaipur that is regularly frequented by tourists from across the world. This fort was constructed by Chitrangad, the Mori Rajputana ruler. The architecture of this fort is worth appreciating. From the glorious Rajputana history to jauhars, there are several things to know about this fort. The main attractions here are Kirti Stambh and Vijay Stambh.

4. Junagarh Fort

Among the many monuments in Rajasthan, Junagarh Fort holds a special place. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful forts in the state. Built by Raja Jai Singh in 1587, you can still see the high wall and deep ditches here. Some of the attractions in this fort are Phool Mahal, Chandra Mahal, Karan Mahal, museum, etc.

5. Jaisalmer Fort

It is built in 1156 AD by Rawal Jaisal, who was a well-known Rajput ruler. This is one of the most important heritage places to visit in this state since several battles were held here. The attractions here that you must take a tour of are Merchant Havelis, Raj Mahal, Lakshminath Mandir, 4 grand gateways.

6. Mehrangarh Fort

Your road trip to Rajasthan is incomplete without visiting Mehrangarh Fort. The fort is located 400 feet above the city of Jodhpur. One of the attractions of this fort is the cannonballs which you can find on the second gate of the fort. You can also visit the museum here.

  • Entry fee: Fort entry is free. For the museum the charges are INR 100 for an Indian citizen, INR 50 for paramilitary personnel and senior citizens

7. Umaid Bhawan Palace

If you want to see one of the most beautiful historical monuments in the country, you should plan your road trip to Umaid Bhawan Palace. This is one of the largest private residential properties in the country and has 347 rooms. The palace is perched on the highest point in the city, which is Chittar Hill. Some of the parts of this palace are managed by the Taj Hotels.

8. Ranthambore Fort

The beautiful Ranthambore Fort was built in the 8th century by the Chauhans. Perched on the Thanbore hill in midst of a wildlife sanctuary, this fort was captured by the Mughals. Inside the fort, you can see several palaces, temples, barracks, and many more.

9. Kumbhalgarh Fort

Another very popular historical monument in the state, Kumbhalgarh Fort is known for its architecture. On reaching the top of the fort, you can enjoy the marvelous view of the Aravalli. The fort dates back to the 15th century and is also the birthplace of Maharana Pratap.
